My beloved SF Ashtanga can be frustrating. . . among other things, the website isn't updated regularly, so I've now found a "closed" sign on the door twice in the past few weeks. Tonight may have been the last straw, because I looked at the posted schedule and current (?) list of instructors and saw there was one name that had been whited out *and* I didn't see my favorite instructor's name (Rebecca) listed. HUH!?!?
So... anyone have any other recommendations? I've taken two Ashtanga classes at Yoga Studio (one w/Franco and the other with Catherine). Both classes were good, but they didn't appeal enough for me to end my search and start paying $20 a class to continue there. I gather green path is closed :( Also, perhaps some of you more experienced yogis could suggest another style of yoga that is similar to Ashtanga?
Thanks, Eileen
P.S. Rebecca... if you're no longer at SF Ashtanga, please send me a message!

Re: Ashtanga in SF?
Sat, January 6, 2007 - 12:37 AMit sounds like mission yoga has devorah sacks running there mysore program. she is an excellent and experienced teacher.
catherine is also wonderful - if that location is better, you might want to give her another chance - she is very very experienced as well. Experience and a strong practice are incredibly important when it comes ot teaching ashtanga. you want to work with a teacher who can guide you forward - and only one who has walked that path can take you down it.
good luck!

Re: Ashtanga in SF?
Wed, January 10, 2007 - 2:36 PMI can recommend Yoga Tree Valencia, there are Mysore classes 630-830am Sunday thru Friday. Clayton Horton is usually the teacher there but he is in India studying with Pattabhi Jois right now, and Mike Hannum is teaching in his absence. I am also one of the Mysore assistants at Yoga Tree, I assist there on Monday mornings. Clayton and Mike are both very good experienced teachers and they have both been to Mysore several times. Clayton is authorized to teach by Pattabhi Jois
Peace,
--Yoga Daddy

Re: Ashtanga in SF?
Thu, January 11, 2007 - 10:23 AMNot sure if you have tried It's Yoga. It's far from traditional ashtanga but it pulls directly from the system. Primary on Sunday @ 9:30am with Katie is a great Led Full Primary.
Namaste
